Associate Professor of Mathematics
Dr. Timothy Redl is an Associate Professor of Mathematics and an Assistant Chair in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Houston-Downtown. A member of the UHD faculty since 2005, he has a strong passion for teaching and learning mathematics. Over the course of his career, Dr. Redl has redefined his teaching style, transforming his classroom from one with a “teacher-centered” focus to one that is more “learner-centered”. He encourages student participation and engages his students with group activities, fun and enlightening classroom demonstrations with props and other manipulatives, occasional magic tricks and games, and intriguing classroom conversations. For his efforts in teaching, Dr. Redl received the UHD Excellence in Teaching Award in 2011. He and his lovely wife Amy live in Pearland, TX with their adorable and strong-willed children Melanie and Adam.
